Beautiful

The Dianne Arbus photography exhibit at the Walker was inspiring. Her lifeworks included pictures of transvestites and prostitutes in the 1960s in New York. I recommend catching it.

I have to get ready for work, but with the sun streaming through my window as I type, it is hard to get motivated to stand up.

Crystal's bachelorette party is on Saturday. It is amazing that three of my high school pals are getting married this summer/fall. I haven't been home since May, so it will be okay to go down for the bride-to-be's last hurrah ;)

FRIENDS

We watched the fireworks display from the Stone Arch Bridge with a million other people.

We took the bus downtown and went to the piano bar. We had other places to go, but once we start talking and laughing time flys by.

We are going to the Walker tonight to see the new black and white display.

I am really happy I found folks who love adventures as much as me, who laugh with and put up with me :)

Bliss

Driving to God's country over the St. Croix River, the sun sparkling off the water, the cement ending and the oaks and pines beginning, I was able to breathe for the first time in a week. A week with 100 hours punched on my time card, if time cards still existed.

Floating down the Apple River yesterday was perfect. Sunshine, a new friend, a wonderful roommate and plenty of hard cider. A personal record for longest time to float down, but no need to rush a beautiful day.

I learned a valuable lesson, that it is not a wise idea to skip rocks among large groups of people. I also learned that drunk people don't feel being hit by rocks much anyways.

In the end I was reminded that friends who can joke, who are adventurous, and who care are the most valuable things we can ever have. I miss my Duluth girls, Kristen, Sam and Anne.

$$$

In the last few days I worked at two major special events, one for each of my jobs. At the "Gala" I served some VIPs from the twin cities, I will name drop if you inquire within. At the "Golf Tourney" I got to chit chat with some influential philanthropic folks. All and I had a great time and met some really cool people. I also worked 13 hrs. each of those days.

Working has been a major theme in my life the past few weeks. I honestly have only had time for bathing and working. I've been making money but do not have any time to spend it. Because of my need for money and internship hours, I have not had anytime for boyfriend or friends, who I hope are just as busy and understanding about my current situation. I am under too much stress and have to deal with enough people who are angry every day.

Do you know that feeling when it feels like you are letting everyone down because you can't be in more than one place at a time? I have always felt guilty for not being able to please everyone. Is that normal?

Bunions

Today was the first day I served in a restaurant in 9 months. I forgot what it felt like. To be behind the scenes. To make as few as interruptions as possible. To learn a new computer system. To deal with egos. To look busy when you're not. To fill beverages. To smile. To apologize. To time courses. To apologize. To not awkwardly put down the bill when you thinking "tip, tip, tip!" To feel my calves and feet ache.

I work with some fabulously sarcastic people, who make the time go fast. We were able to sample most of the entrees and desserts. The desserts were my fav.

Tony and I saw the Da Vinci Code yesterday and dined at the wonderful Luce. I had just finished the novel a few days before, but I still enjoyed it. And in the words of my favorite high school English teacher "A book is not a movie and a movie is not a book."

All and all it was nice to be able to walk outside in D-town.

Amazing.

I'm sitting at the fabulous coffee shop in Canal Park with Tony. It is a windy, but sunny day in D-town today. It is nice to get out of the big city for a little bit. The all work/no play thing is getting monotonous. However, it is nice to feel that I am part of an organization again. The most fabulous part of my new restaurant job is that it focuses on buying from local farmers who practice sustainable methods. So the world can carry on in a wonderful little circle, and we will no longer glow in the dark.

I am excited to do a few new things in the city with my darling Sam.-Let's dress up fancy/hot, in other words, our usual attire, when we go to drink fancy drinks at 20.21.

Life is fabulous, again. Much Love.

Cloudy Day

I need sunshine.
