SOS, Different Day

Yesterday I stayed the day trapped in my house doing long neglected domestic duties. I really do not know how women did it as housewives. I think I would have gone postal. Maybe the original saying was I think I am going to go "housewife."

In the process of folding laundry (urrghhh blaalp) I watched most of Finding Neverland with Johnny Dep on TV. I was really surprised that I liked a movie about the guy who wrote Peter Pan.

The nighttime was fairly uneventful. I lost the people I went to the bar with, so I went over to Tony's. He had a few too many drinks and ended up praying to the porcelain gods. I played the role of crabby fun-less sober person. But, at least I got to hate the world with my wonderful darling, Sam.

New New News

Sheena and I booked a ticket for Arizona for spring break. I am really excited because I have never been there or to the Grand Canyon (on the agenda).

Other than that the weather here has been gorgeous! I woke up and it was 40 degrees this morning. That's 20 degrees above the average high for this time of year.

Health Care economics was interesting today. Sheena got in a debate with "pink sweater" over whether doctors should get perks from pharmaceutical companies. Sheena was on the nay side. She was backed up by our prof. and most of the rest of the class. Pink sweater's argument was "Ugh. Doctors go to school for 7 years and they are really smart. So, um, they should get to go on free trips or whatever." Sorry that you can't afford your prescription, Grandma. Try holistic medicine?

Tonight we are going to a benefit concert at a coffee shop for a mentor program. It should be good. Later Tony and I might check out the drink specials at the casino downtown.

Have a pleasant day and thanks for reading.

Achoo!

I never appreciate being generally healthy until I am really sick. I have been sick since Tuesday with a fever, ear-infection, and cold. A lot of the people I have been around have been sick though, so it is really no wonder. This sickness was especially fun, because it was the first week of classes. I was forced to go to my first meeting of each class because otherwise a the professor can drop you and let someone else have your seat. I really think I made a nice impression on the people in my classes, between blowing my nose on their sleeves and sneezing on the back of their necks. Yes and boy, did I look stunning, red-nosed, mascara running, third day of wearing my stinky pajamas and fake Ugg boots, me.

So besides the few classes that I went to, I have been spending the rest of the past four days in bed. Today I found myself watching the car auction show on T.V. and that was a big highlight. Oh, but in actual exciting news, the StarTribune is going to be running a picture I took this fall of a sunrise at Gooseberry Falls in the weather section tomorrow.

I made this post the other day and for some reason it didn't publish right.

Let it be known that on Friday, January 13, 2006 I finally caved in and started this thing. The path to this has been long and nerve-racking. Much like other technological advances in my young life, cell phone, lap-top, mp3 player, I was not the first of my friends to start a blog and I will not be the last. The biggest factor preventing me from being this was not writer's block, but eternal writer's anxiety (EWA), my fear of writing anything down so that the current or future generations can read the thoughts that came streaming out of my noggin.

I suppose now I have to create an interesting life, so I don't look like a loser. Today I had a lovely drive up I-35 to Duluth. It really was lovely, it has been the fifth day of sun or almost sun.

I had a joyous stop at the casino. My motivation was not gambling, but rather redeeming my coupon for $10 in cash. Not only that, but I also scored $5 free for my birthday month. That was a pretty big score for my job-less ass. I took my money and ran. Thankfully, I have not inherited my elders' addictive genes, when it comes to gambling. However, the rest of the gray hairs boppin' at the slot machines today, were not so lucky when they flipped their gene coin. Still, I feel ambivalent towards seeing people pop their life's pennies into fluorescent pink machines, when you consider this country's "discovery."

Cheeseheads

Yesterday I drove to Ashland, Wisconsin to see Jared and Krystal. I decided on the drive that there is little to see/do on the aprox. 85 miles between Duluth and Ashland.

The night in Ashland was fun though. We walked out to the end of an abandoned iron ore bridge approx. 1/3 mile on Lake Superior. The walk was trecherous during dusk/darkness because there are lots of spots to slip into the lake and the 9 inch wide walk-way was spotted with black ice.

After our adventure we made a lovely meal and were pretty lathargic afterwards. I made the trip back to Duluth this morning.
